About FreeWatchFaces

We publish a curated catalogue of free watch faces and watch-face wallpapers, step-by-step install guides for each platform, a compatibility checker for matching a face to your exact model, and a watch face creator for making an image-based face of your own.

We also maintain a daily-updated ranking of Apple Watch face apps on the App Store. Those pages are an aggregator: the apps belong to their developers, and every card links out to the store.

Everything on the site is free to browse. There is no sign-up, no account and no paywall.

A lot of watch-face sites blur the line between a wallpaper and a real watch face. We do not.

Apple Watch does not accept third-party face files. watchOS runs Apple's own face templates, so what you can genuinely download is a wallpaper for the Photos face plus complications you set yourself — explained in the Apple Watch setup guide.

Companion-app watches from brands such as boAt, Fastrack, Noise and Fire-Boltt use custom image faces applied through the brand's own app. They are personal wallpaper dials, not official app-store faces, and we label them that way.

Wear OS and Garmin are the straightforward cases: faces install from Google Play and the Connect IQ store respectively.

The site is written and maintained by the FreeWatchFaces editorial team. Guides are written against the current manufacturer documentation and companion apps for the platform they cover, and revised when a platform changes — Wear OS moving to the Watch Face Format, or a new watchOS face gallery, for example.

Every guide and article carries a publication date. Where a platform detail is likely to vary by model, region or software version, we say so rather than stating it flatly.

Some outbound links to app stores carry affiliate tokens. If we earn a commission it costs you nothing extra, and it never changes what we list or how anything is ranked. Full detail is in our editorial policy.
