Data Methodology

Star ratings and review counts on the Apple Watch face app pages come from Apple's official iTunes Search API and are refreshed daily. They are displayed as Apple returns them, rounded only for display. Prices and 'free' labels come from the same response.

These are the only ratings on the site, and they describe third-party apps on the App Store — not our own designs.

We do not operate user accounts, reviews or install tracking for the faces we publish. Any download count or star rating we attached to them would be an estimate presented as a measurement, so we publish neither.

If we introduce real ratings or install counts later, they will come from verified user activity, be labelled as such, and carry the date they were last updated.

Style, shape, dominant colour, motion and the data a face shows are editorial classifications applied by us so that filtering and compatibility work consistently across brands.

'Battery impact' is a qualitative editorial assessment — based on how dark the background is, whether the design animates, and how many live complications it refreshes — not a laboratory measurement. Real battery life also depends on brightness, always-on display, sensors and connectivity, as covered in our battery guide.

Resolutions and screen shapes come from each manufacturer's published specifications for that model.

Space wallpapers use public-domain imagery from NASA's image library, credited on the page it appears.

Watch-face previews shown in listings are rendered by the site from each face's own attributes; they illustrate the design rather than being screenshots from a specific watch.

Dates shown as 'Added' are the date a face entered this catalogue, not a developer release date.

We will not invent download counts, generate star ratings, buy reviews, or present an estimate as a measurement. Where we do not have reliable data, we leave the space empty and say why.
