Compatibility Policy

Last updated Aug 7, 2026

What we mean when we say a watch face is compatible with your watch — how we work it out, and the limits you should know about before you install anything.

What “compatible” means here

A face is listed as compatible with a model when its shape and resolution match that model's display and the install method is one the platform actually supports for that watch.

Compatibility is not a guarantee of availability. A design can be unavailable in your country, restricted to a newer software version, or withdrawn by its developer after we list it.

How we determine it

Model specifications — screen shape, resolution and operating system — come from each manufacturer's published documentation. The install route comes from the platform: Google Play for Wear OS, the Connect IQ store for Garmin, Zepp for Amazfit, the Photos face for Apple Watch, and the brand's own companion app for image-based faces.

You can check any specific watch with the compatibility checker, which matches your model against the catalogue.

Platform-specific caveats

Apple Watch — watchOS does not accept third-party face files. What we list is a wallpaper for the Photos face, and complications you add yourself.

Samsung Galaxy Watch — Watch4 and later run Wear OS and install from Google Play. The original Galaxy Watch, Watch Active, Active2 and Watch3 run Tizen and use a different store, so modern Wear OS faces will not install on them.

Wear OS generally — since January 2026, faces must use the Watch Face Format to be installable, so some older designs no longer appear.

Garmin — Connect IQ lists compatibility per device, and that list is authoritative for your watch.

boAt, Fastrack, Noise and Fire-Boltt — these are custom image faces applied through the brand's companion app, not app-store faces.

Report an incompatibility

If a face does not install or display correctly on a model we list it against, tell us through the report page. We check the claim, correct the compatibility list, and update the page date. How the underlying attributes are assigned is described in our data methodology.
